The design of this exceptional Palladian-style residence required an innovative approach to exploit planning restrictions and address the clients request for a property befitting a luxury lifestyle.
Situated in the Green Belt, there were considerable planning constraints that limited the size, height and volume of the new residence, and an assessment was needed to justify and maximise the scale of the proposed design.
The plot also posed challenges, such as flood plains and significant level changes, within its boundaries. To address these issues, the new house was re-sited, topography was remodelled and the ground stabilised to create a more suitable platform for the property.
A grand entrance provides access to the substantial family accommodation and a stunning staircase, not only leads up to the first floor bedroom suites, but down to the significant entertaining level.
Making full use of the landscape, the design includes a sunken garden accessed from the entertaining area, along with sweeping paved terraces to serve the upper levels.
The balanced and well-proportioned elevations are finished in natural limestone to create a stunning appearance.
