This scheme is situated within the Surrey Green Belt and required a particularly sensitive and flexible approach from the Ascot Design team.
Formerly the site of a listed building, this unique location overlooks the seventeenth green of the famous West Course on the Wentworth Estate. We were asked by our client to consider a fresh approach and distinctive design solution that would be suitable for this prestigious site. Furthermore, significant planning constraints to building size and architecture were applied to our proposals due to the sensitive nature and importance of the project.
Our first design solution proposed a contemporary dwelling with 3,000 sq. ft. of floor area above ground, in order to maximise the planning restrictions, with a further 5,000 sq. ft. at lower ground floor level to deliver the necessary accommodation requirements. The design featured an undulating grass roof which would integrate perfectly into the surrounding terrain and adjacent golf course.
After planning permission was received, an alternative design was prepared, which offered a contrasting appearance modelled on strong classical influences. Having successfully obtained planning consent for both designs, our client decided to proceed with this option.
