This impressive crescent development in Reading was designed for a reputable local house builder who is also a longstanding client of Ascot Design. The project demonstrates how our team considers all aspects of a site and applies meticulous design criteria when addressing sensitive planning issues.
Located within a conservation area, it was essential to design a scheme that respected the character of the location and high quality architecture of surrounding buildings.
The façade of the crescent adopts classic Georgian styling with imposing proportions and provides 15 townhouses in the centre of the site. In contrast, two buildings at either end of the site have the appearance of large Victorian villas and accommodate 9 apartments in each.
In front of the crescent the scheme incorporates an attractive landscaped amenity space and play area for use by residents.
The scheme achieved planning permission during its first submission and is recognised for its high quality appearance and the sense of place it provides to the locality.
